Adalyn was surrendered to our rescue by a family who got her off of craigslist and could not afford her medical care. She was 6 weeks old at that time, and is 3 months old as of 3/31/13.
Adalyn is 100% pure awesome! She is affectionate and playful! She loves to play with other kitties and her foster mom! She has a wonderful personality! She is outgoing and is not shy one bit!
Adalyn is a Manx cat, which means she has no tail at all. She has a rectal prolapse due to a lack of muscle tone from not having a tail. She does have feeling to her rectum and is great about using her litterbox. She has had surgery twice to attempt to repair the prolapse, but both were unsuccessful. She has been seen by three diffrent vets, and we have received a range of opinions about her. We are currently on a 'wait and see' basis. She is being monitored by our vet with regular check ups. It is possible the issue will correct itself as she grows.
Adalyn eats some dry food, but her diet mostly consists of canned food. She needs to have Miralax a few times everyday to keep her poop soft so it does not worsen her prolapse when she goes to the litterbox.
We are told she is not in pain, and by the way she plays and runs around, we agree!
She is completely healthy besides her prolapse. She is growing, growing, growing! She has tons of energy and has a very happy, bubbly personality.
Adalyn is great with other cats and would adjust to living with a dog. We will not place Adalyn in a family with kids under 12 years of age, due to her condition. It is very important that children are old enough to understand to be extra-gentle with her.
Adalyn is available for adoption to a very experienced cat family. Preferably one with no young kids. We would love it if he adopter has some experience with special needs pets, but we will not require it.
Adalyn needs a special family, but we are sure her forever home is out there somewhere!
