Rookie is being fostered in Lancaster PA and is only available to be adopted within PA by families willing to come to Lancaster to meet him.  He is approx. 10 months old as of 12/4/13.  He is neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and has been regularly treated with flea and worm preventatives.

Rookie is a very special kitty!  He is a survivor!  Rookie was rescued when he was about 7 months old from a feral colony in Quarryville PA.  He was suffering from a severely infected eye and was extremely malnourished.  

When Rookie was rescued he was so skinny you could feel every bone in his body and he walked hunched over because he was so weak.  His eye was infected to the point where it was sinking into his socket.  He only weighted 3.1 pounds when he was rescued.  Normal body weight for a 7 month old kitten is 6.5-7 pounds. 

Rookie has had quite a bit of vet care and LOTS of love and socialization.  He is blind in one eye, but you would never know it if you saw him run and play!  He is very playful and loves toys! 

He LOVES to cuddle!!  It is his favorite thing!  He is perfect cuddling size too!  He now is a healthy body weight and looks fantastic.  He weighs about 7 pounds and will not get much bigger.

Rookie is what we call a "velcro kitty" meaning he wants to be right with us all the time!  He is a total snuggle bug and loves to be held and carried around. 

He does know his name and comes when you call him! 

Rookie does not need any special care for his eye at this point.  It is covered in healthy scar tissue and should not require any special treatment in the future.  He does not see much out of his blind eye.  He does seem to see light changes though.  He has been seen by 2 vets and has the OK to be adopted by a forver family!

Rookie is a rescue favorite!  Everyone who meets him, LOVES him!  He has a great personality and purrs all the time! 

He would do well in any home environment.  He is great with other cats, kids, and dogs.  He could be adopted with any other cat from our rescue if desired.

Rookie's adoption fee is $100.  Please apply to adopt him today!  He is a great little kitty!
